2010 Vacation Bible School

Northminster invites you to be a part of God’s Great Get-Together. Set under the impressive baobab tree, Vacation Bible School will offer food, fun and fellowship for everyone. So mark your calendars for July 11 – 14!

In order to allow enough time for everyone to enjoy their meal, we will begin serving at 5:30 in the Fellowship Hall. Feel free to drop in any time between 5:30 and 6:00 for dinner. Classes will begin at 6:30 followed by fellowship on the lawn at 8:15.

There are many exciting opportunities this year!   Be sure to bring a friend!

Ages 3 - 5th grade will have a BAOBAB BLAST! Through Bible stories, crafts, games and songs they will experience the joy of living in God’s community.

Youth (6th – 12th grades) will have the opportunity to participate in classes at the church.

Adults (College and Older) can choose between many exciting course offerings.
  • Chrismons in July – Getting a bead on your artistic side.... Susannah Cox will guide participants in the process of creating a beaded object. The class will look at traditional symbols that indicate the embarking upon a journey.  The creation of such objects can be a spiritual journey in and of itself. The group will look at celtic symbols, traditional Crismon shapes,  and will explore the various shapes and forms of a labrinth as their inspiration. No prior experience is needed.
  • Go “Bell”istic! - Have you always wanted to play in the bell choir? Here is your chance. This class is designed to introduce students to the art of handbell ringing. After learning basic techniques you will quickly be performing beautiful music!
  • The “Non-Choir” Choir - Sing your favorite old hymns and learn new ones. Under the direction of NPC’s own Flint Dollar, learn the origins of a favorite hymn and experience first hand how the choir learns a new piece of music.
  • Theology and Technology – These are loaded words that have a tendency to not be very "user-friendly" for most folks.  Is it possible to do theology – to talk about God - in this technical age and does technology help or hinder the way we talk about God?  Come learn how the church has used and continues to use technology to spread the good news.
  • “Women in Church History” - Join Dr. Darlene Flaming for an unusual exploration of early, medieval, reformation, and modern church history through the lives of little known women. Meet women who were martyrs, mothers, mystics, musicians, and ministers. Consider what the stories of these women have to teach both men and women about how to live out our commitment to Christ in our time and place.
